Keep My Hood Good Program Coming to McKenzie

Posted

McKENZIE — A new organization called Keeping My Hood Good headed by a McKenzie native held signups for kids and were recruiting volunteers Friday afternoon at McKenzie City Hall. McKenzie native and MHS graduate Juanita Jones began this organization in Jackson ten years ago in the Lincoln Courts area and is now bringing it to McKenzie.
The Keep My Hood Good Community Campaign is a non-profit group and after school program designed to keep youth in high crime area out of trouble by teaching them how to respect themselves and those around them. Their vision is to help underprivileged children come unified and empowered by sharing the belief that they hold the power to create how they live and grow within their own communities.
According to Jones, beginning July 12, they will meet every Friday at Greater Enon Church on Walnut Street which will be their temporary location. Their plans include starting an afterschool program from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. after Labor Day.
For more information, you can call 731-293-3800 or check out their website at keepmyhoodgood.org.
