Lady Rebels Win District Opener, Remain Unbeaten

McKENZIE (September 19) — The McKenzie High School Lady Rebel soccer team is deep into the season and has yet to suffer a defeat. The unbeaten streak began with a 5-0 road win over Obion County and a 3-2 win over Dyersburg in the home opener. Next was a 1-1 draw at home against Lexington, followed by a 2-0 shutout at Crockett County. The Lady Rebels hosted Peabody for a 5-1 victory, then traveled to Waverly Central for a 5-0 shutout. McKenzie finally began Distrist 13A play Thursday at Gibson County and claimed a 3-0 win.

McKenzie Lady Rebels 5, Obion County Central Lady Rebels 0 (August 27) — McKenzie’s Allie Chappell scored a pair of goals and had an assist. Maggie Aird scored a goal and had two assists. Isabella Colotta and Savannah Nesbitt each scored a goal, and Isabelle Wright and Haley Brasfield each had an assist. Goalkeeper Gracie Dillingham had five saves for the shutout.

Lady Rebels 3, Dyersburg Lady Trojans 2 (September 3) — Lady Rebel Maggie Aird scored a goal and had an assist. Savannah Nesbitt and Allie Chappell each scored a goal. Goalkeeper Gracie Dillingham recorded ten saves.

Lady Rebels 1, Lexington Lady Tigers 1 (September 5) — Lady Rebel Allie Chappell scored the lone goal. Goalkeeper Gracie Dillingham recorded seven saves.

Lady Rebels 2, Crockett County Lady Cavaliers 0 (September 10) — Lady Rebel Allie Chappell scored a goal and had an assist. Savannah Nesbitt scored a goal and Maggie Aird had an assist. Goalkeeper Gracie Dillingham has ten saves.

Lady Rebels 5, Peabody Lady Tide 1 (September 12) — Lady Rebel Savannah Nesbitt scored three goals. Allie Chappell scored a goal and had an assist. Savanah Hill scored a goal. Goalkeeper Gracie Dillingham had six saves and an assist.

Lady Rebels 5, Waverly Central Lady Tigers 0 (September 16) — Lady Rebels Allie Chappell and Maggie Aird each scored two goals and had one assist. Savannah Nesbitt scored a goal, and Haley Brasfield had an assist. Goalkeeper Gracie Dillingham had three saves.

Lady Rebels 3, Gibson County Lady Pioneers 0 (September 19) — Lady Rebel Allie Chappell scored two goals. Maggie Aird scored a goal and had an assist. Goalkeeper Gracie Dillingham had four saves.

McKenzie stands at 6-0-1 for the season and 1-0 in district play. Allie Chappell leads the team in goals with ten, followed by Savannah Nesbitt with seven and Maggie Aird with five. Aird leads in assists with six, followed by Chappell with four. Goalkeeper Gracie Dillingham has 45 saves and four shutouts.

The Lady Rebels will host Scotts Hill Tuesday for a non-district contest at 5:30 p.m., then will continue District 13A play at Westview Thursday at 6 p.m.
