ATWOOD (April 28) — West Carroll senior basketball standout Macey Cunningham committed to continue her education and athletic career at Clarendon College in Texas at a signing ceremony Tuesday.
The event was held in the parking lot of West Carroll Junior Senior High School with social distancing guidelines in place.
Lady War Eagle Head Coach Gayle Kendrick said of Cunningham, “She’s a hard worker with a great work ethic. She’s an unbelievable kid, and we’re proud of her.” He noted that she was a four-year starter who led the team in scoring the past two seasons. She twice earned All-District and All-Tournament honors and was named to the All-Academic team this year. She reached the 1,000-point mark for her career in her final game this season.
Macey thanked her family and friends, all of her coaches and the community for their support.
She told The Banner she has always wanted to go to Texas and that Clarendon Head Coach Mark James drew her to the school.
Of West Carroll, Cunningham said, “I love this community so much. The teachers, staff and students are so friendly. [Playing at Clarendon] is a great opportunity to represent the school.”
She will major in Education.
