Lady War Eagles Drop Contest to USJ

ATWOOD — West Carroll’s Lady War Eagles played host to USJ’s Lady Bruins last Tuesday afternoon, April 9, giving up too many runs in the later innings and falling 9-5.
USJ scored first in the top of the first inning with West Carroll answering in the bottom of the second to tie it up 1-1. After holding USJ to no runs in the top of the third inning, Alyssa Butler cranked out a home run giving the Lady War Eagles a 2-1 lead. Neither team scored in the fourth inning but USJ exploded for five runs in the top of the fifth inning taking a 6-2 lead. They plated another run in the top of the sixth inning to make it 7-2. West Carroll came back with three runs in the bottom of the sixth cutting the lead to 7-5. However, USJ plated two runs in the top of the seventh while holding West Carroll scoreless to hand them the loss.
Brooks also had a triple in the contest. Brooks led the Lady War Eagles in RBIs with four while Butler had one RBI. Stafford scored two of the runs while Butler, Alexis Houston, and Tatum Keymon all scored one run apiece.
