NASHVILLE — Unemployment rates increased over the last month in Carroll, Henry, and Weakley Counties.
The biggest increase was in Carroll County which increased from 3.5 percent in September to 4.1 percent in October. Out of a total workforce count of 11,092, 10,640 were employed while 452 were unemployed.
Henry County rose from 3.3 percent to 3.7 percent. 509 were unemployed and 13,428 were employed out of a total workforce of 13,937.
Weakley County rose from 2.8 percent to 3.3 percent. 14,811 were employed and 507 unemployed out of a total workforce of 15,318.
In Northwest Tennessee which includes Carroll, Henry, Weakley, Benton, Crockett, Dyer, Gibson, Lake, and Obion Counties, the unemployment rate increased from 3.3 percent to 3.8 percent with 3,893 unemployed and 99,637 employed out of a total workforce of 103,530.
Statewide, unemployment increased from 3.4 percent to 3.5 percent. Out of a 3,368,280 labor force, 3,251,720 were employed while 116,560 were unemployed. All 95 counties had unemployment increases. Six West Tennessee counties had the top ten highest unemployment rates including Lauderdale, Shelby, Haywood, Decatur, Lake and McNairy counties. The top ten counties with the lowest unemployment rates were in Middle and East Tennessee.
