10 YEARS AGO — Carroll County’s first two liquor stores opened in Bruceton, Old Railroad Wine and Spirits and Bruceton Wine and Spirits. Liquor sales were approved in the town via referendum the previous November.
*Bethel College started its first shooting sports teams for men and women. Lance Rider was named the head coach, assisted by Thomas “Bub” Edwards, Mark Anderson and Bill Lane.
20 YEARS AGO — The McKenzie Industrial Development Corporation made an offer to purchase the vacant Park Theatre building from Leslie Curtis of Waverly for $15,000.
50 YEARS AGO — Showing at the Park Theatre: King Kong Escapes starring Rhodes Reason and Linda Miller; The Last Adventure starring Alain Delon and Lino Ventura; Charro! starring Elvis Presley and Ina Ballin; and The Night of the Following Day starring Marlon Brando and Rita Morene.
