20 YEARS AGO — During Huntingdon’s annual Heritage Festival, the Outstanding Citizen Award was presented to Dr. Howard L. Johns. The Pioneer Family Award was presented to the Francisco family, natives of Huntingdon since brothers Ernest and Charles Francisco moved there in 1910. Kelley Carter of Huntingdon won the talent contest.
*Bethel College welcomed Anne Hames as the school’s new chaplain.

*Amy Clement was crowned Huntingdon High School Homecoming Queen. Other members of the royalty included Amanda Powell, Konstance White, Katy Wilson, Macy Robison, Rachel Maddox, Lindsey Spellings and Cassie Crider.
50 YEARS AGO — McKenzie Schools reported a record enrollment of 1,325.
*Showing at the Park Theatre: The Devil’s Brigade starring William Holden and Vince Edwards; The Conqueror Worm starring Vincent Price and Ian Ogilvy; and The Detective starring Frank Sinatra and Lee Remick.
