ATWOOD (October 20) — Mack’s Camo Connection hosted its eighth annual Duckapalooza Saturday. It’s the sports outdoors store’s big yearly event to kick off waterfowl season.
The street festival featured many vendors and giveaways. Vendors included Higdon Decoys of Paducah; Purple Hayes Guide Service of Gates, Tennessee; Ramsey Russell’s GetDucks.com of Brandon, Mississippi; Chubby Bearded Guy’s Workshop of Savannah; South Fork Duck Blinds of Brownsville; Mossy Oak Properties of Milan; and the local chapter of Hope Outdoors, a nationwide charity that provides individuals with special needs with meaningful outdoor experiences.
A BBQ fundraiser was held to support youth activities in the community. Southern Pride LLC of Alamo provided the cooker, and Precision Body Shop of Medina supplied the propane.

Inside Mack’s, duck call competitions were held with Youth, Novice and Open-Class divisions. Prizes awarded included Lacrosse waders; Hobo duck calls; guided hunts with Purple Hayes; and Higdon decoys, gun cases and blind bags.
The Mack’s family of businesses began in 1945 with Mack’s Hardware. Mack’s Camo Connection was the first expansion. Mack’s Casual opened in 2016 and Mack’s Camo Cafe in 2017.
The next planned expansion will provide hydrographics and Cerakote services, primarily for guns. Hydrographics is a water transfer process; Cerakote is a wear resistant coating similar to powdercoat.
Mack’s is owned by Dale Nelson, Sr. and sons Dale Nelson, Jr., and Cody Nelson.
