Martha Nell Reed, 99, died Wednesday, July 1, 2020 at AHC of McKenzie. 

A memorial service for Mrs. Reed will be announced at a later time.

Mrs. Reed was born in Trezevant, Tenn. on March 21, 1921 to Jesse Allen and Hassie Loue Porter Williams. She was the fifth child of their fifteen children. For many years Mrs. Reed was a news column writer for the local newspapers out of Huntingdon and Milan, Tenn. She loved flowers and her flower garden. Her volunteer work was very important to her and she often helped friends with a visit, a phone call and her famous cakes. She was a volunteer at the Baptist Hospital in Huntingdon and a Hospice volunteer. She was part of the committee to organize her 1939 Trezevant class reunions as well as the West Carroll Alumni Association and reunions. Martha Nell worked at the H.I.S. factory in Trezevant for thirty-nine years before she retired.

Her faith was steadfast and she attended the Church of Christ in Trezevant faithfully and regularly. Mrs. Reed was a member since she was a young girl.

She is survived by her children, Marvin Roy Reed (Courtney) of Indian Land, South Carolina, Brenda Kay Reed Bitzer (Arthur) of Memphis, and Dennis Harlon Reed (Kay) of Trezevant, grandchildren, Michael Allen Reed ( Debbie), Sara Michelle Reed, Derrick Andrew Reed (Mary) and Erich Arthur Bitzer and great-grandchildren Baeley Anna, Katherine Nicole, Jacob Michael, Raleigh Katherine, Owen Charles, Mason Drake Reed and Elliot James Reed,  her sisters, Rachel W. Arrington of Bradford and Nell “Boots” W. Presson of Milan and her brother, Joe Edward Williams of Brighton and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, Willard “Biggie” Reed.

Mrs. Reed has requested that any memorials be sent to St. Jude Hospital or Trezevant Cemetery Fund c/o Centennial Bank,  Trezevant.
