Posted

McKenzie (September 8) — Carroll County Mayor Joseph Butler was the featured speaker at the September 8 meeting of the McKenzie Rotary Club.
Butler has served two years at the post. His father, Walter, also served as mayor of Carroll County.
Mayor Butler said the pandemic creates challenges for all government entities and the citizens. Prior to the pandemic, the county made 18 months of progress with industrial announcements in Bruceton, Huntingdon and McKenzie, including Zline, Granges, Dynamix, Pottery Direct and Cachengo.

New initiatives for the county include the extension of broadband in the county and help develop a culture of healthy living, created by a citizen-initiated triathlon, 5K races, and walking initiatives. He said Robyn Hatler of McKenzie is helping develop a program for the county’s citizens.
TEC is extending fiber optic lines near McLemoresville and Buena Vista through a state grant and by utilizing the Carroll County Electric’s fiber. The company plans to expand north and south in the future.
McKenzie Rotary Club meets every other Tuesday at Block City Pizza, where the club’s president is owner. Persons interested in providing a program to members, please contact Sandi Roditis, president-elect of the club.
