  • Inglenook Book Club November Meeting

    The Inglenook Book Club met Wednesday, November 9, at the First Cumberland Presbyterian Church in McKenzie with 19 members present. Hostesses were Beverly Mueller and Pedie Petersen who served delicious apple dumplings along with assorted homemade cookies, mixed nuts and assorted beverages. President Carolyn Moore called the meeting to order and expressed appreciation to the hostesses for the delicious food and to Donna Ward for arranging with the church to meet. She also thanked Victoria Ard who graciously called all members twice to remind them of the meeting and change of location.

    McKENZIE (November 18) — McKenzie Rebels (13-0) advance to the semi-final round of the Class 1A football playoffs after an impressive 20-18 win over Fayetteville at Rebel Stadium. The Rebels met an outstanding team from Fayetteville, who matched the Rebels in skill on the playing field in this third round of playoffs. Rebel fans showed up and cheered for their home team despite the temperatures in the upper 20s.

    HUNTINGDON (November 18) — In football, they say it’s hard to beat a team twice in the same season. The Huntingdon Mustangs accomplished that feat defeating Union City 27-20 at Union City on Friday, October 28 and 14-3 Friday night, November 18, at home in the third round of the state playoffs.

    ATWOOD (November 14) — West Carroll Junior High School held their homecoming hosting Bradford winning both games handily. (See related homecoming story). In the girls game, the Lady War Eagles rolled to a 16-2 lead in the first period and extended it to 26-11 by halftime.

    Multiple Charges — Officer Trenton Ruddy initiated a traffic stop on Saturday morning, November 19 on South Stonewall Street on a vehicle that had a right brake light out. After identifying the driver as Reginald Lee II, 22, of Bartlett, Tennessee, Ruddy ran a license check and learned Lee’s license was suspended. Lee was cited for Driving On Suspended/Revoked License – First Offense and Light Law Violation.
