    McKENZIE — Bethel University is hosting the annual Miss Bethel University Volunteer and the Miss Carroll County Volunteer pageant on November 19, at 6 p.m. in the Dickey Fine Arts Building on Bethel’s campus. This combined pageant acts as a preliminary for the Miss Tennessee Volunteer Scholarship pageant held each July in Jackson. Deadline for application is Tuesday, November 15.

    McKENZIE (November 11) — Continuing a long-standing tradition, McKenzie High School hosted area veterans and presented a program to honor their service to America. The 10 a.m. ceremony on Veterans Day is conducted annually by the Student Government Association and features student presenters, the MHS Band and a featured speaker who served in the military.

    TREZEVANT (November 8) — The Trezevant City Board met in regular session on Tuesday, November 8 discussing and taking action on a few items. The board approved a $30,000 loan to help purchase new playground equipment for the city park.

    HUNTINGDON (November 11) — On Tuesday, Dr. Brock Martin (R), won in the general election to serve in the Tennessee House of Representatives for District 79. Dr. Martin easily defeated the Democratic challenger Thomas Jefferson by taking in over 81% of the vote. He is replacing retired representative Curtis Halford.

  • McKenzie Rebels Advance to Quarterfinals, Defeat Moore County

    McKENZIE (November 11) — McKenzie Rebels are 12-0 on the season after their defeat of Moore County on Friday, November 11. The Rebels play Fayetteville at Rebel Stadium on Friday. Both teams are 12-0. Fayetteville defeated Dresden, 42-17, to advance to the quarterfinals. There are eight teams statewide remaining in Class 1A playoffs.

    MEMPHIS (November 11) — Huntingdon hit the road to Memphis Fairley for round two of the state playoffs after defeating Memphis Mitchell in round one. The Mustangs took care of business on a chilly night in South Memphis eliminating the Fairley Bulldogs 48-6 and advancing to the third round on Friday.

  • Wildcats Win Conference Championship

    McKENZIE (November 12) — The No. 4 Bethel University Wildcats became the first Bethel team in modern day program history to win 11 games in a season and be undefeated at that mark. The 2018 squad was 10-0 during the regular season. Bethel’s longest winning streaks prior to this year had been 10 in a row in 2007 and 2018.
