However, the family traded the warm climate for some Tennessee weather and a chance to lead the annual Christmas parade in the city where Dr. Forbess was raised. The Forbess family also had the honor of lighting the Christmas tree in McKenzie’s Veterans Memorial Park in downtown.

    Weakley County Schools certainly has much to celebrate this year, and the latest news is no exception: three district schools – Dresden Elementary School, Gleason School, and Westview High School - have been named Tennessee Reward Schools by the Tennessee Department of Education (TDOE). Based on data from the 2023-24 academic year, these schools have earned this recognition through outstanding performance according to the State’s strict scoring matrix. A Reward School ranking means that the school scored in the top 5% for achievement or growth on standardized tests.

    Aggravated Child Abuse and Neglect — According to a report by Officer Brad Allen, on November 25, 2024, he issued a warrant on Brenna Clark, 29, of Huntingdon. On October 28, the Department of Children services requested a hair follicle on Brenna’s -old child which came back positive for methamphetamine. On November 26, Brenna Clark was taken into custody at the D.C.S. office in Camden and transported to Carroll County Jail.

    GLEASON (December 2) — Gleason Junior High hosted McKenzie Middle School Monday for a pair of basketball contests. The Lady Rebels trailed by four at the half, but seized momentum down the stretch for a 38-35 win. The Bulldogs gradually built a lead throughout for a 32-21 victory.

    ATWOOD (December 3) — West Carroll High School hosted Gleason Tuesday for a pair of basketball contests, and the visitors earned a road sweep. The Lady Bulldogs rode a big first quarter to a 55-32 win, and the Bulldogs pulled away in the second quarter for a 60-39 victory.

    CAMDEN (December 3) — McKenzie High School traveled to Camden Tuesday for a pair of basketball contests. The Lady Rebels trailed by four at the half, but took the lead in the third en route to a 47-42 victory. The Rebels had a two-point edge at the break, but the Lions rallied for a 60-52 win.

    ATWOOD (December 5) — West Carroll Junior High recognized its basketball eighth graders Thursday night and hosted Dresden for a pair of games. The visiting Lady Lions built on an early lead for a 41-27 win. The Lions likewise pulled away in the early minutes for a 59-13 victory.
