MEMPHIS (June 27) — Matthew McBride, O.D., of McKenzie, Tennessee, was among 130 students recently awarded the Doctor of Optometry degree from Southern College of Optometry in Memphis. McBride earned the Spivey Endowed Scholarship, which comes with a $1,000 monetary award, to honor his commitment to pursuing private practice optometry.
A native of McKenzie, McBride is the son of Becky and Kenny McBride. He is a graduate of McKenzie High School and the University of Tennessee — Martin.
Optometrists are independent, primary health care providers who specialize in the examination, diagnosis, treatment and management of diseases/disorders of the visual system, the eye and associated structures, as well as the diagnosis of related systemic conditions.
