McKENZIE (May 17) — The McKenzie High School class of 2020 graduated with 91 seniors on Sunday, May 17 amid the COVID-19 pandemic that interrupted their senior year. McKenzie school dismissed March 19 and never returned because of the worldwide pandemic.
Students wore the traditional red and gray gowns and were seated at floor-level with greater than usual spacing between the students to complex with recommended social (physical) distancing to slow the spread of the virus.
The number of attendees was limited to up to six per graduate. This was the 111th graduating class for the McKenzie community. These seniors missed much of the celebrations enjoyed during the spring semester of their final high school year. They missed prom, Project Graduation, baseball, softball and men’s soccer, to name a few event. Watch for a special printed section for the class of 2020 in the next few weeks.
