McKenzie High School Beta Club Hosts Fundraiser

Posted

McKENZIE (February 8) — The McKenzie High School Beta Club hosted a series of well-attended fundraising events Saturday at the school.
Following up on last year’s success, the club reprised the Empty Bowls fundraiser.
Patrons received a clay bowl handcrafted by the MHS Art Department and Art Director B.J. Hardwick and enjoyed a variety of soups, chilis and stews.
All proceeds from this event are allotted to the Community Action Center to fund activities such as job training, Christmas gifts for children of low-income families and the Carroll County Community Action Center’s Baby Supply Closet.

Meanwhile, in the MHS Theatre, the club hosted the inaugural Miss Southern Sweetheart Pageant.
Approximately 30-35 participated in eight divisions.
Baked goods and other concessions were available in the lobby throughout the event.
Funds from the pageant and concessions go toward expenses for MHS Beta Club members to compete at the Leadership Conference in Gatlinburg in March and at Nationals in Ft. Worth in June.
The club plans to hold the joint event annually around Valentine’s Day.
