McKENZIE (September 21) — As of The Banner’s Monday press deadline, McKenzie High School’s football Homecoming, scheduled for this Friday, September 25, is postponed to next Friday, October 2, against Gibson County. The Rebels will host USJ September 25 at 7:30 p.m.
Next Friday, the queen will be announced and crowned in pre-game ceremonies. Candidates are seniors Maggie Glass, Savanah Hill, Kennedy Green and Lauren Mansfield and junior Anna Grace Spivey.
The Homecoming crowning and game traditionally culminates week-long activities for the students.

Stewart County forfeited the September 25 game due to positive cases of COVID-19. MHS officials rescheduled Homecoming for October 2 while still seeking an opponent for September 25.
After contacting several potential opponents, MHS reached an agreement with USJ on Monday afternoon.
In this uncertain year of global pandemic, several games have been canceled because of the virus, and, at times, plans have changed several times before Friday night arrives.
