McKENZIE (December 6-7) — The City of McKenzie hosted its annual Polar Express event at the historic depot during A Mistletoe Christmas. Approximately 200 children plus their parents and guardians attended one of the three sessions on Friday evening and Saturday morning and afternoon.
The kids began their journey to the North Pole by having their magic tickets checked. They then wrote letters to Santa saying just what they wanted for Christmas. They prepared reindeer food for Santa’s team, then enjoyed hot chocolate and cookies prepared by the Polar Express’s master chefs.
Next was a visit with the Man in Red himself. Kids then got to cut loose with an indoor snowball fight and other games. Chris Hall of Thred’s INK. helped everyone create their own Polar Express t-shirts.
Outside, there was a big inflatable slide to pass the time while awaiting the magical train’s arrival.
Kids had their tickets checked by the Conductor and were taken on a trip through town on the Polar Express.
Finally, each group gathered at the Park Theatre to see the animated film adaptation of the classic story on the big screen.
