The City of McKenzie hosted the sixth annual Chocolate Tour on Saturday, February 8, 2020 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Organizers stated that approximately 120 tickets were sold for this year’s event with proceeds earmarked to purchase more memorial plaques to be posted on the historic downtown businesses. Patrons visited McKenzie’s downtown merchants and sampled the homemade confections presented at each shop. Once all stops on the tour had been visited, the tickets were turned in at the McKenzie Memorial Library where the votes were tallied. Additionally, a drawing was held for a gift basket packed with donations from each of the participating merchants on the tour.
Participating merchants included: Belles on Broadway, City Florist, Cooper’s Cafe, Ginger Baby Cakery, Gordon Browning Museum, McKenzie Banner, McKenzie Industrial Development, McKenzie Memorial Library, Motheral Super Drugs, Park Theatre, Prater’s Taters and William’s Furniture.
Motheral Super Drugs was voted the best stop on the tour for its red velvet sandwich cookies, chocolate/strawberry kabobs, and ganache-covered brownie pops.
