McKENZIE — A McKenzie man is charged with Attempted Second Degree Murder, Aggravated Assault and Domestic Assault after a March 21 incident in McKenzie.
According to three warrants filed by Lt. Ryan White of the McKenzie Police Department, Roscoe McClerkin, 37, of McKenzie pulled a gun on Brittney Steele while the two were arguing while riding around McKenzie in his vehicle. According to the warrants, Steele said McClerkin threatened to kill her. She grabbed the gun and threw it out the window on Highland Drive. Officers recovered a Sig 9MM semi-automatic pistol from the area.
At some point, the victim was struck by McClerkin’s vehicle, causing damage to her internal organs, broken ribs and injuring her ankle. She was airlifted to Vanderbilt Hospital.
McClerkin was placed under a bond of $201,000 on the three charges.
