McKENZIE — A Jackson man was charged with multiple offenses January 19 after Officer Chance Townes attempted a traffic stop on a black Ford Mustang for not coming to a complete stop at a stop sign. The vehicle took off at speeds in excess of 100 mph down University Drive.
According to the report filed by Townes, the Mustang blew a tire hitting a curb and traveled down Hwy 140 and finally wrecked on Ben Smith Road in Henry County. The driver, identified as Steven Miller of Jackson, ran off into the woods and was later located by Townes and two county deputies. Miller was found with a bag containing needles, a glass pipe, and small plastic bags. The car was reported stolen out of Henry County.
Officers searched the vehicle and found the items which led to the charges.
Miller was charged with Theft of Property $10,000 - $60,000, Reckless Endangerment, Felony Evading Arrest, Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and was also cited for Driving On Suspended License.
