Theft/Driving on Revoked/Suspended License — A Waverly man was arrested on multiple charges by Officer Jeff Winberry, Monday, April 8, after McKenzie Police received a call from Cornerstone Market in regards to a gas drive off and shoplifting. The owner told Winberry that a male pulled up in a red Ford F-150 and pumped gas and came inside and got some items and then said he needed to go to his truck and get his debit card. He grabbed the items and proceeded to drive off without paying for anything.
According to Winberry’s report, Cornerstone’s owner did get the tag number off the truck. A computer check revealed the truck had been reported stolen. The truck was later found at Merchant’s Outlet Mall. The driver, identified as Ricky L. Jackson of Waverly, denied going to Cornerstone at which time he was taken there and was identified by the owner as the male who drove off with gas and store items.
Jackson was arrested and charged with two counts of Theft Under $1,000 and Driving on a Revoked/Suspended License and transported to Carroll County Jail.
Domestic Assault — Last Wednesday, April 10, while Officer Cody Coleman was investigating a separate domestic assault case, Bethel Security received an anonymous tip that an assault had occurred in the parking lot of the Vera Low Student Center.
According to Coleman’s report, both subjects were identified as Jonathan Smith and Destiny Turner both of Somerville, Tenn.
Bethel Security Chief Daniel Thomas interviewed the two as well as Coleman. Neither person would respond to why the incident occurred, so Coleman arrested and charged Smith with Domestic Assault and transported him to Carroll County Jail.
Domestic Assault — Officer Kyle Beauchamp responded to a 911 call regarding a female who had injured herself and was swinging a razor blade at her boyfriend at Maverick.

According to Beauchamp’s report, he found Cayce Walker of Huntingdon visibly upset with injuries to her wrist. Walker told him she and her boyfriend had just broken up and admitted slapping him in the face while he was driving. She was checked out by EMS for her injuries but refused to go to the hospital.
The victim, Charles Farlow of Gleason, was questioned and confirmed what Walker told Beauchamp. She was then arrested and charged with Domestic Assualt and taken to Carroll County Jail.
Sale/Delivery of a Controlled Substance — A traffic stop early last Saturday morning, April 13, resulted in a pair of drug-related arrests. Officers Jeffrey Louden and Kyle Beauchamp were patrolling and observed a vehicle travelling on Cedar Avenue with a headlight and brake light out initiating a stop.
According to Louden’s report, while he was questioning the driver, Jaylen Dorsey of Mableton, Georgia, Beauchamp detected the smell of marijuana coming from the vehicle. Dorsey and a passenger, Antonio Wright, of Mobile Alabama, were removed from the vehicle and a search conducted. Beauchamp patted down Wright and found $3,231 in cash in his pocket. Louden searched the vehicle and found 22 bags of marijuana in multiple locations in the car. Both were arrested and charged with Possession of Schedule VI Drug with Intent to Manufacture, Deliver or Sell and seized their 2003 Taurus. They were transported to Carroll County Jail each under $5,000 bond.
Multiple Traffic Violations — Jessica Marr of McKenzie was charged with Driving on a Suspended/Revoked License and a Financial Responsibility Law Violation after being stopped for a traffic violation on Magnolia Avenue early last Saturday morning, April 13.
According to Officer Jeff Louden’s report, he stopped a vehicle for not having a registration plate light on her vehicle. A license check found her to be driving on a suspended license for a previous charge and also could not produce any proof of insurance. Marr was cited into General Sessions Court.
Driving on Suspended/Revoked License — Officer Dalton Raspberry initiated a stop Sunday morning, April 14, on a vehicle with a license plate light out. The driver, Jerry Christian of McKenzie, could not produce a valid drivers license. A computer check found his license to be revoked for two prior offenses and his license tag was found to belong to another vehicle. Christian was arrested and charged with Driving on a Revoked Suspended License-Third Offense and also cited into General Sessions Court for Misuse of Registration. The vehicle was impounded.
