Multiple Charges — A traffic stop on Saturday, August 3 resulted in drug charges against three individuals. Officers Jeff Lowden and Dalton Raspberry stopped a gold Chevy Suburban for a window tint violation. The driver, Carrie Hayes of Milan, was found to be driving on a suspended license with prior offenses. The passengers were identified as Cassie Brown of McKenzie and Jason Rinks of Milan to verify if either of them had a valid driver’s license.
According to Lowden’s report, officers could smell marijuana to which all three admitted they had previously smoked in the vehicle. A probable cause search was done and two bags of a green leafy substance thought to be marijuana were found along with rolling papers, a roller, and a grinder.
All three were arrested and charged with Possession of a Schedule VI Drug with Intent, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Hayes was additionally charged with Driving on a Suspended/Revoked License-3rd Offense.
Domestic Assault — Officer Billy King responded to a domestic call at an Alabama Street residence on Tuesday, August 6, where Markel Allen told King that he had asked his girlfriend, Kathy Snead, to leave the house. According to King’s report, Snead opened the door without knocking and he closed it back keeping her on the porch which is when she started hitting him in the shoulder. Snead was charged with domestic assault and taken to Carroll County Jail.
Driving on Suspended/Revoked License — Officer Jeremiah Brooks initiated a stop on a vehicle Thursday, August 8 with expired registration and learned that the driver, Donna Allen of Henry, was driving on a suspended license. Allen was cited into General Sessions Court for Driving on a Suspended License-First Offense, Violation of Financial Responsibility and Expired Registration.
Driving on Suspended/Revoked License — On Saturday, August 10, Officer Cody Coleman initiated a stop on a black Honda CRV driven by Christian M. Workman of Puryear due to having prior knowledge that Workman was driving on a suspended license. According to Coleman’s report, he did confirm the violation and charged Workman with Driving on a Suspended License-Fourth Offense and placed him under arrest and transported to Carroll County Jail.
Leaving Scene of an Accident — A Hit and Run remains under investigation after McKenzie Police were called to EW James on Sunday afternoon August 4 where Molly Tippitt of McKenzie told officer Dalton Raspberry that her car had been hit by a vehicle that left the scene. Tippitt’s Chevy CZL had damage from what appeared to be a rear tow hitch. A witness observed the accident and got a tag which came back to a Huntingdon vehicle. The owner was contacted and stated that she was home all day and no one had borrowed her vehicle to her knowledge.
Theft — Dorris Nash of McKenzie reported that a tall skinny black male pulled up in a small car while he was working at a Diamond Drive residence on August 3 and loaded up his Stihl Brand Weed trimmer and blower and took off. The incident remains under investigation.
