DUI — Logan Cordell Payne, 26, Highway 436, McKenzie was charged with DUI, Sale/Delivery of a Controlled Substance and Public Intoxication on January 24.

Sergeant Cody Coleman was dispatched to Casey’s General Store, where Payne had driven up to the front door and sat inside his car for over an hour, and then went inside the store. He was unsteady on his feet. Inside his vehicle were 35-40 pills in a plastic bag, a digital scale, folded paper money with a powder with a blue tint on it, and burnt aluminum foil. A check of his license revealed those were revoked due to a DUI conviction.

Officers arrested Payne and transported him to Carroll County Jail.

DUI, Open Container — Getmanska Makism, 38, Paw Paw Lane, McKenzie, was charged with DUI and Open Container on January 25 after MPD alerted to a parked car at 205 Hospital Drive.

Officer Sean Beck saw the vehicle parked across several parking spaces and Makism inside the vehicle. Makism would only say his name was “Max.” Several cigarette butts were laying on the parking lot beside the driver’s side of the car.

Officer Beck asked Makism to perform field sobriety tests, which he refused. The report indicates he was unsteady on his feet. Makism did consent to a blood-alcohol test.  He was charged as stated above.

Domestic Assault — Amairi M. Cook, 29, Norwood Drive, Union City was charged with Domestic Assault on January 14.

Sergeant Cody Coleman was alerted by Carroll County Deputy Crowe that he had stopped a vehicle in McKenzie, and the female passenger indicated she was assaulted by Cook at her residence in McKenzie. Coleman instructed the female victim to return to the residence, where he interviewed her. Cook is accused of attempting to kick in the door to gain entry, and once inside, he physically assaulted her.

A warrant was issued for Cook’s arrest.

Identity Theft — Kendrick D. Wharton, 33, Hermitage, Tenn., was charged with Identity Theft on January 12.

Officer Kyle Beauchamp took a report from a McKenzie woman who said Wharton had taken her new bank debit card and made authorized transactions. An attempt by the victim to check her Credit Karma revealed it had been compromised by Wharton.

Speeding/Driving on Suspended — Kevon Marcellus Keaton, 23, Ward Road, Millington, was charged with Speeding and Driving on a Suspended License on January 28.

Sergeant Cody Coleman stopped Keaton for speeding on Forrest Avenue. A check of his license revealed the suspended status. Keaton was cited into Carroll County General Sessions Court on the charges.

Aggravated Assault Warrant Service — Robert Andrew Bridges, 37, Bailey Street, McKenzie, was arrested on an outstanding warrant of Aggravated Assault on January 23.

Officer Matthew Cunningham was dispatched to the McKenzie Park — Dog Park area, where Cunningham was in a parked vehicle after the park had closed for the day. A search of his license status revealed the outstanding warrant. He was arrested and transported to Carroll County Jail.
