Stolen Vehicle — Martez P. Carter, 19, Kirby Downs Drive, Memphis is charged with Theft, Reckless Endangerment and Aggravated Assault Against a First Responder after an incident on October 29.

Officers Dustin McClure and Sergeant Davis witnessed a 2013 black Honda sedan without working registration lights and attempted to stop the vehicle at around 2:22 a.m. The car, driven by Martez Carter, began to speed and swerve to avoid the traffic stop. A Carroll County joined the pursuit, and Carter slammed on the brakes, making the deputy’s car slammed into the rear of the stolen vehicle.

McKenzie officers went to Bethel University where the school’s security team watched a video of Carter and a juvenile entering the car. The owner of the car stated the two did not have permission to drive it.

Carter was charged with Felony Evading, Aggravated Assault on a First Responder, Reckless Endangerment with a Weapon, Theft, and Leaving the Scene of an Accident.

Criminal Trespass — Athena Stafford, 35, Elm Street, McKenzie, was charged with Criminal Trespass on November 3.

Officer Bryan Batchelder was dispatched to the E.W. James parking lot where he located Stafford near the donation bins in the parking lot. Stafford was previously issued a ban notice from the property.

Criminal Trespass — Maurice Lawrence, 31, Coleman Street, Memphis, was charged with Criminal Trespass on Halloween.

Officer Dalton Raspberry was dispatched to Regions Bank where Lawrence was dancing in the parking lot. Lawrence, who is frequently charged with Criminal Trespass, was located at City Wine and Liquor, where he was previously banned.
