McKenzie Rebels End Season in State Semi-Final Game

ROCKVALE HIGH SCHOOL (SPRING FLING  2023) - McKenzie High School Rebels baseball team made it to the semi-final round of the Class 1A  state championship before falling 5-2 against East Robertson, a team the Rebels had defeated 14-1 earlier on Thursday, May 25.  

In the double-elimination series, the Rebels beat University School 5-1 on Tuesday, lost to East Robertson 6-5 on Wednesday. The Rebels then beat Bradford 13-1 on Wednesday to remain alive in the tournament. 

Thursday, in a rematch, the Rebels defeated East Robertson 14-1 to even the winnings between the two teams at one-and-one. The final game for the Rebels was East Robertson taking the 5-2 victory and advancing to the championship round.

In the final contest, McKenzie scored one run in the first and one in the sixth inning. East Robertson scored three in the second inning and two in the sixth to win in 6.5 innings.

The Rebels were district champs, region champs and sectional champs for the 2023 campaign.
