McKenzie Schools Providing Meals to Children During Closure

Posted

McKENZIE (March 30) — The McKenzie Special School District is providing meals to children during the school closure related to the COVID-19 pandemic. Breakfast and lunch are provided each weekday to anyone under the age of 18.
The two meals are distributed from 11 a.m. to noon daily at the back of McKenzie Middle School. Each child must be present to receive the meals.
Volunteers, consisting of school employees and school board members, deliver the meals to vehicles in a drive-thru fashion.

Meals are prepared by MSSD Food Service Director Greg Jones and the three school cafeteria managers, Sue Baker, Laura Martin and Kathy Barcroft.
According to Jones, the district provided 725 meals last week, the first full week of the closure.
Meals will not be distributed next week, April 6-10. This was to be McKenzie’s spring break.
Distribution will resume Monday, April 13 and continue through at least Friday, April 24, the final day of closure as currently planned.
