CLARKSBURG (January 24) — McKenzie traveled to Clarksburg High School Friday for a pair of district basketball contest and came home with a sweep. The Lady Rebels took an early lead and pulled away in the third quarter for a 48-32 victory. The Rebels quickly built up a big lead en route to a 73-26 win.

McKenzie had a 9-6 edge after the opening frame, led by Shelby Davis with five, including a three-pointer. Dani Dyer and Lilly Bennett each had a pair. Lady Rockets Sami Roney and Krista Noble each hit a three.
The Lady Rebels added to the lead with a 15-12 advantage in the second quarter, led by Davis with ten points, including a pair of threes. Bennett and Kylie Reynolds each had a pair, and Dyer hit a free throw. Noble led Clarksburg with six points on a pair of threes, and Roney hit another three-pointer. Caselyn Derryberry had a pair, and Kyleigh Scott hit a free throw. At the half, the Lady Rebels led 24-18.
McKenzie outscored the Lady Rockets 12-4 in the third, led by Davis with five points, including another three-pointer. Camille Travis hit a three, and Anna Callahan also scored three points. Reynolds hit a freebie. Roney and Ashlyn Yarbrough each had a pair for Clarksburg. Entering the final frame, McKenzie led 36-22.
The Lady Rebels capped the win with a 12-10 tilt in the fourth, led by Davis and Bennett with four points each. Callahan scored three points, and Briley Auvenshine hit a free throw. Yarbrough led the Lady Rockets with seven points. Makiya Abdallah had a pair, and Jasmine Bailey hit a free throw.
Lady Rebel Shelby Davis led all scorers with 24 points, including four three-pointers.
