DRESDEN (October 22) — McKenzie Middle School’s basketball teams made the short trip to Dresden Middle School Tuesday for a pair of big wins. The Lady Rebels pulled away in the second quarter en route to a 50-33 victory over the Lady Lions. The Rebels stifled the Lions early to secure a 39-14 win.

The Lady Rebels jumped out to a 14-9 lead after the opening frame, led by Savannah Davis with ten points. MiKaela Reynolds scored four. Mollie Oliver led Dresden with a three-pointer, and Paisley Pittman, Ashlee Mallon and Marlee Scronce each had a pair.
McKenzie shut out the Lady Lions 9-0 in the second quarter, led by Davis with four. Nicole Gibson hit a three, and Ally Gibson had a pair. At the half, McKenzie led 23-9.
The Lady Rebels had an 18-16 advantage in the third, led again by Davis with 12 points, including a three-pointer. Gibson and Kyeana Sneed each hit a three. Isabell Cantrell and Pittman led Dresden with six points each, Cantrell on a pair of threes. Oliver scored four points. Entering the final frame, the Lady Rebels led 41-25.
McKenzie edged the Lady Lions 9-8 in the fourth. Davis led with five, and Reynolds and Gibson each added a pair. Mallon and Scronce each hit a three for Dresden, and Pittman added a pair.
Lady Rebel Savannah Davis led all scorers with 31 points, including a three-pointer, and Nicole Gibson scored eight with a pair of threes.
