McKENZIE (November 12) — McKenzie Middle School hosted Inman Tuesday for a pair of basketball contests. It was Pink-Out Night, which the school chose to dedicate to Willow Pate, the infant sister of Lady Rebel Sophie Pate and a patient at Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital awaiting a heart transplant. The Lady Rebels coasted to a 54-32 win over the Lady Bulldogs, but the Rebels had to rally early and battle late to edge out a 38-34 win over the Bulldogs.
The games also saw the debut of the MMS pep band, under the direction of Veda Haney.

The Lady Rebels surged to a 22-8 lead after the opening frame, led by Savannah Davis with ten points, including a three-pointer. MiKaela Reynolds scored seven, also with a three, and Kyeana Sneed had five with a three. Brooke Blankenship led Inman with four points, and Fajona Sneed and Fayth England each had a pair.
McKenzie had a 9-8 edge in the second quarter, led by Reynolds with five points. Davis and K. Sneed each added a pair. Blankenship again led the Lady Bulldogs with four, and Kylee Perry and Tianna Howard each had a pair. At the half, McKenzie led 31-16.
The Lady Rebel built on the lead with a 17-12 advantage in the third, led by Reynolds with eight points, including a pair of threes. Davis scored five with a three-pointer, and K. Sneed had four points. Lady Bulldog Bayleigh Thompson scored four, and Perry, F. Sneed, Blankenship and England each added a pair. Entering the final frame, the Lady Rebels led 48-28.
McKenzie capped the win with a 6-4 tilt in the fourth. Davis led with four, and Reynolds added a pair. Howard and England each had a pair for Inman.
Lady Rebel MiKaela Reynolds led all scorers with 22 points, including three three-pointers. Savannah Davis scored 21 with a pair of threes, and Kyeana Sneed had eleven, also with a three-pointer.
