ATWOOD (January 29) — West Carroll High School hosted McKenzie Friday for a pair of district contests. The Lady Rebels pulled away early for a 61-24 win, and the Rebels completed the road sweep, 63-49, despite a big third-quarter rally by the War Eagles.

McKenzie Sweeps West Carroll

ATWOOD (January 29) — West Carroll High School hosted McKenzie Friday for a pair of district contests. The Lady Rebels pulled away early for a 61-24 win, and the Rebels completed the road sweep, 63-49, despite a big third-quarter rally by the War Eagles.

The Lady Rebels stormed out to a 21-2 lead after the opening frame, led by Kylie Reynolds with six points on a pair of three-pointers. MiKaela Reynolds, Savannah Davis and Lilly Bennett each scored four, M. Reynolds with a three. Dani Dyer had a pair, and Briley Auvenshine hit a free throw. Skylar Jones scored West Carroll’s two points.

McKenzie added to the lead with a 15-5 advantage in the second quarter, led by Davis with four points. Auvenshine, M. Reynolds, K. Reynolds and Bennett each added a pair. Anna Callahan hit a free throw. Erin Norman led the Lady War Eagles with three points, and S. Jones and Amaya Thompson each hit a free throw. At the half, McKenzie led 34-7.

The Lady Rebels had a 16-13 edge in the third, led by Auvenshine and K. Reynolds with four points each. Dyer, Davis, Bennett and Callahan each added a pair. Mia Jones led West Carroll with eight points, including a pair of three-pointers. Noelle Roberts hit a three, and Norman added a pair. Entering the final frame, the Lady Rebels led 50-20.

McKenzie capped the win with an 11-4 tilt in the fourth, led by M. Reynolds with five points, including a three. Kyeana Sneed scored three points, Savannah Nesbitt had a pair, and Hannah Dillingham hit a free throw. Thompson and Kelsey Holmes each had a pair for West Carroll.

Lady Rebel Kylie Reynolds led all scorers with a dozen points, including a pair of threes. MiKaela Reynolds scored eleven, also with a pair of threes. Savannah Davis had ten points.

Mia Jones led the Lady War Eagles with eight points, including a pair of threes.

McKenzie jumped out to a 23-12 lead after the first frame, led by Marquez Taylor with 13 points. Eli Surber scored nine on a trio of three-pointers, and Bryson Steele hit a free throw. Josh Clark led West Carroll with five points, including a three. Andrew Huff also hit a three, and Luke Moore and Jalen Anglin each had a pair.

The Rebels pulled away with a 16-7 advantage in the second quarter, led by Taylor with nine points. Johnathan Moore scored three points. Zay Webber and Jaden Currie each had a pair. L. Moore scored all seven War Eagle points, including a three-pointer. At the half, McKenzie led 39-19.

West Carroll rallied 22-10 in the third, led by Anglin with a dozen points. L. Moore scored five. Tyler Johnson and Xander Moon each had a pair, and Clark hit a freebie. Taylor led McKenzie with five points. Steele scored three, and Caleb Gill had a pair. Heading into the final frame, the Rebels led 49-41.

McKenzie sealed the win with a 14-8 tilt in the fourth, led by Surber with six points, including a three. Zayden McCaslin scored four, and Steele added a pair. Taylor and Gill each hit a free throw. Anglin led the War Eagles with six points, and Clark and Johnson each hit a freebie.

Rebel Marquez Taylor led all scorers with 28 points. Eli Surber scored 15 with four three-pointers.

Jalen Anglin led West Carroll with 20 points. Luke Moore scored 14 with a three.
