Meet Keb’ Mo’ at The Dixie for Christmas

Posted

You are invited to celebrate Christmas on December 21 with Keb’ Mo’ and The Dixie! The Dixie Carter Performing Arts and Academic Enrichment Center in Huntingdon, is the last stop on Keb’ Mo’s Jingle Bell Jamboree, a holiday tour that features the four-time Grammy Award-winning contemporary blues and Americana artist performing songs from Moonlight, Mistletoe, and You, his first-holiday album.
Keb’ Mo’, a modern master of American roots music, plays with all the honesty and truth of a soul from the Delta. A singer, guitarist and songwriter, Mo’ draws heavily on the old fashioned country-blues stylings of Robert Johnson and mixes it with a heavy dose of here and now storytelling. Sometimes his songs are feel good. Sometimes they are important. But they all are real. He believes that “music should speak to the world.” And there is no doubt that he does.
But his legendary reputation as a bluesman doesn’t stop there. His skill and love for a good, red guitar have inspired leading instrument makers like Gibson to issue the Keb’ Mo’ Signature Bluesmaster acoustic guitar and Martin Guitars to issue the HD-28KM Keb’ Mo’ Limited Edition Signature model.
Whether performing at the White House or live with Garth Brooks, Keb’ Mo’ does more than just keep the Blues alive. It thrives under his careful craft. B.B. King, Buddy Guy, the Dixie Chicks, Joe Cocker, Robert Palmer and Tom Jones have all recorded his songs while his list of collaborators includes Bonnie Raitt, Jackson Brown, Cassandra Wilson, Amy Grant, Solomon Burke, and more.

Keb’ helps the Blues stay alive in other ways too. He has been involved with Playing For Change, a program created to inspire, connect and bring peace to the world through music, since its beginning in 1996. Keb’ is also a mentor with the Kennedy Center’s Turnaround Arts program, a highly successful program where artists work as mentors with teachers, students, parents and the community to help build sustainable arts education programs. With interests so similar to the heart of The Dixie, it’s no wonder we’ll be seeing Keb’ on her stage in December.
Keb’ Mo’ never intended to do a holiday album, “It’s been a long time coming, and I did something I said I would never do... Of course, ‘never say never’ is the rule, so here it comes, a holiday album and a tour to go along with. Happy Holidays, Everyone!”
Every pair of tickets purchased includes a digital download or CD of Keb’ Mo’s new album “Moonlight, Mistletoe, and You.”
Additionally, The Dixie Carter Performing Arts & Academic Enrichment Center is one of the select venues to offer a VIP Meet and Greet Experience with Keb’ Mo’ (sold online only).
