McKENZIE (May 24) — Those who served in the U.S. Armed Forces were memorialized with the placement of a U.S. flag at their grave sites at Mt. Olivet Cemetery and Carroll Memorial Gardens over the Memorial Day weekend. Volunteers placed the small flags at each veteran’s grave, whether or not the person died in battle. It is a long-standing tradition headed by American Legion Post 37, based in McKenzie. Dana Deem is the commander of that post. Pictured are Roland Argo (foreground) and Marvin Newman (background) as they place flags at the graves in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
