McKenzie Elementary Announces School Supply Lists

The McKenzie Elementary School released the 2022-23 kindergarten through fourth grade school supply lists on June 15.

Kindergarten
Kindergarten teachers ask parents to provide students with a standard-size backpack (non-rolling), six small glue sticks, one bottle of Elmer’s White Glue, a 24-pack of small Crayola crayons (6 packs for the year), children’s safety scissors with metal blunt tips, and pencils that are not fat. Students need a plastic pencil box, one watercolor set, two boxes of tissues, six fat Black Expo markers, two fat yellow highlighters, and one pack of baby wipes.

Kindergarten teachers request parents to bring all supplies to their “Meet the Teacher” appointment prior to school starting. They also request parents write their child’s name on all supply packaging. For those wishing to purchase extra supplies, teachers request extra dry-erase markers, Clorox wipes, and baby wipes.

First Grade
First grade students need school scissors, four Jumbo Glue Sticks, three boxes of crayons (24-pack or less), twelve Ticonderoga pencils, two packs of cap erasers, one pencil bag (no school boxes), a backpack without wheels, one plastic folder with three prongs and pockets, two yellow highlighters, two Black Expo markers, and Kleenex. Teachers ask that boys bring Wet Wipes and girls bring Band-Aids. There is also a $10 room fee, payable by check or cash.

Second Grade
Second grade students need a school backpack without rollers, one pencil pouch (no crayon boxes), children’s safety scissors with a blunt metal tip, two boxes of crayons (16- or 24-pack), up to six packs of glue sticks, #2 pencils (preferably Ticonderoga), two packs of pencil top erasers, two plastic folders with pockets and prongs (red and yellow), one wide-ruled spiral notebook, two dry-erase markers, and two yellow highlighters. Teachers ask that girls bring Kleenex tissues and boys bring Ziploc bags (any size). There is a $10 fee for classroom materials.

Teachers request parents to write their child’s first and last name on all supplies. Kleenex, Clorox wipes, Ziploc bags, and wet wipes are used throughout the year.

Third Grade
Third-graders need a school backpack without rollers, school scissors (sharp pointed metal), two boxes of crayons (16- or 24-count only), four Elmer’s school glue sticks, 2 packs of #2 pencils (no plastic coated pencils), one plastic pocket folder with prongs, one composition notebook, one pencil bag or pouch large enough to hold a box of crayons (no school boxes), one pack of wide-ruled notebook paper, two yellow highlighters, one wide-ruled spiral notebook, two dry-erase markers (black or blue), one pack of pencil top erasers, and one pair of earbuds. There is a $10 classroom fee.

Students do not need markers, binders, or colored pencils.

Teachers ask parents to put their child’s name on all supplies. To contribute to classroom materials, teachers request Kleenex, wet wipes, paper towels, index cards, colored printer paper, zip lock baggies, or white or colored card stock.

Fourth Grade
Fourth-graders need two plastic folders with prongs and pockets, one three-ring binder 1-1/2 inch width, dividers for the binder, four highlighters, four Expo dry-erase markers (black or blue), two boxes of 24-pack crayons, two packs of #2 pencils and erasers, one box of classic colored markers, two 70-count spiral notebooks, a large-zipper pencil pouch (no pencil boxes), two pairs of ear buds ($1 each), one pack of wide-ruled loose-leaf notebook paper, two glue sticks, one small bottle of glue, scissors, Kleenex tissue, and disinfectant wet wipes. A workbook fee will be announced at the beginning of school.

Teachers request parents check regularly throughout the school year that their child has all necessary supplies.
