Posted

On January 18 at Jackson Northside High School, approximately 1,200 students auditioned for the 2019-20 All West Tennessee Honor Band, including several from McKenzie High School.
Jonathan Haney earned third chair overall in percussion. Andrew Goodrum earned 12th chair overall on clarinet. Zack Roy earned second chair overall on euphonium. The three will perform in a free public concert this month at the convention center in Memphis. Because of his top-two finish, Roy will also represent West Tennessee in the All State Band in April at the Opryland Hotel.
The University of Tennessee at Martin Honor Band was January 24-26 with students from approximately 50 schools nominated based on musical skill and director recommendations. Students auditioned for chair placement, then rehearsed for a public concert on the final day.
Yajaira Vega earned first chair euphonium in the ninth-tenth grade band. In the eleventh-twelfth grade band, Jonathan Haney earned third chair percussion, Claire Cottrill earned seventh chair trumpet, Andrew Goodrum earned first chair clarinet and Zack Roy earned first chair euphonium.
