HUNTINGDON (October 12) — Renee Myers of Yuma is Carroll County’s new veterans service officer. She started her duties on October 2020 in the office located in the Carroll County Office Complex on High Street in Huntingdon.
While veterans can get many of the services by registering online, Myers offers in-person services to assist veterans with the many benefits they and their beneficiaries or caregivers can access.
Myers retired after 27 years from the U.S. Army in 2012 as a command sergeant major (CSM). She first served as a combat medic, had two tours in Iraq and served as a nurse at the Walter Reed Hospital when the attack on 9/11/2001 occurred. She served throughout the world in various military stations. Her husband, Carl, is a retired sergeant major and responded with emergency crews to the Pentagon after it was attacked on 9/11.
She also served as a battalion CSM. She assisted soldiers as they transitioned from soldiers to veterans.
