New TSSAA Classification, Alignments To Cause Shake Up for Major Sports

The TSSAA’s recently-released school classifications and district/region alignments for the 2021-23 cycle have big implications for area schools.
Among the changes are a swap of classes for the McKenzie and Huntingdon high school football teams. Based on early enrollment numbers for this year, McKenzie moves from Class 2A to Class 1A while Huntingdon moves from 1A to 2A.
Huntingdon also moves up a class from A to AA in basketball, baseball and softball.
New district and region alignments that include area schools are:
Football
Class 1A
Region 6: Dresden, Gleason, Hollow Rock-Bruceton, McEwen, McKenzie, Perry County, South Fulton.
Region 7: Greenfield, Halls, Humboldt, Lake County, Peabody, West Carroll.

Class 2A
Region 7: Camden, Gibson County, Houston County, Huntingdon, Union City, Westview.
Basketball, Baseball, Softball
Class A
District 11: Big Sandy, Hollow Rock-Bruceton, Houston County, McEwen, McKenzie.
District 12: Clarksburg, Frank Hughes, Perry County, West Carroll.
District 13: Bradford, Dresden, Gleason, Greenfield, South Fulton.
Class AA
District 12: Gibson County, Huntingdon, Milan, Union City, Westview.
