PILLOWVILLE (December 17) — The owners of Pillowville Country Store along with other donors teamed up to host a basket of food giveaway on Thursday, December 17. Fifty baskets of food were given away to area families on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Terri McDaniel and Jamie Smith of Pillowville Country Store, said each plastic laundry basket contained 10 pounds of chicken, milk, butter, eggs, juice, mac and cheese, bologna, sausage, hot dogs and canned foods. Area residents and customers donated the food over 10 days before the event.
Eager recipients lined their cars around the building as employees and volunteers placed the food inside each vehicle as it advanced to the front of the drive-up window. Each recipient was wished merry Christmas as they were served.
The year 2020 has been a challenging year for businesses. However, the Pillowville Country Store’s owners thought it was important to give back in this time of uncertainty.
