Rebels Pound Red Devils, 11-4

McKENZIE (April 5) — The McKenzie High School Rebels hosted Bradford Friday for a non-district baseball contest. The Red Devils started strong, but the Rebels scored in each of the first five innings and pulled away in the fifth for an 11-4 victory.
Bradford struck first with a pair of runs in the top of the first, but McKenzie scored one in each of the first three innings to take the lead in the bottom of the third. The Red Devils would tie it with a run in the fourth, but the Rebels answered with a pair in the home half to take the lead for good. They opened up the lead with six runs in the fifth, and Bradford mustered just a run in the top of the sixth.
Rebel Jake McDaniel was 1-for-4 with a home run, two RBIs and a run scored. Tyler Spivey was 3-for-4 with two RBIs, two runs scored and a stolen base. Murphy Watkins was 3-for-3 with a walk and a run scored. Chase Colotta was 2-for-4 with a double, two RBIs and two runs scored. Landon Johnson was 1-for-2 with a walk and two runs scored. Cameron Kee was 1-for-2 with a walk. Harold Smith was 1-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored. Chase Daffron was 0-for-3 with a walk and an RBI.

Red Devil Max Halford was 3-for-3 with an RBI, two runs scored and two stolen bases. Caleb Estes was 1-for-3 with a double, an RBI, a run scored and a stolen base. Gage Blaylock was 1-for-3 with a double and a run scored. Zachary Williams was 1-for-3 with an RBI.
Evan Jarrett earned the win for McKenzie, allowing two runs (one earned) on three hits while striking out four and walking none in three innings. Luke Bennett threw two and a third innings of relief, allowing two earned runs on three hits while striking out four and walking one. Chase Daffron pitched the final inning and two-thirds, allowing no runs, hits or walks while striking out four.
Will Taylor took the loss for Bradford, allowing five runs (four earned) on four hits while striking out one and walking five in three innings. Koenn Knott threw the final three innings, allowing six runs (four earned) on eight hits while striking out two and walking none.
