Rebels Shut Out Hickman County Bulldogs at Tennessee River Classic

WAVERLY (March 13) — The McKenzie High School Rebels earned a big win Friday at the Tennessee River Classic, shutting out the Hickman County Bulldogs 8-0.
The Rebels got on the board with a run in the bottom of the third, opened up the lead with four in the fourth, and put the game away with three in the sixth.
Rebel Phillip Smith went 2-for-3 with a walk and three RBIs. Jake McDaniel went 2-for-3 with a walk and two RBIs. Jackson Cassidy was 2-for-3 with a walk, an RBI and two runs scored. West Cook was 1-for-3 with a walk, two RBIs and a run scored. Zayden McCaslin was 1-for-2 with two walks, two runs scored and a stolen base. Cameron Kee went 1-for-3. Ethan Travis went 0-for-2 with a walk and a run scored.

Bulldogs Garrett Smith and Shelton Blackwell each went 1-for-3 with a stolen base.
Jackson Cassidy started on the mound for McKenzie, throwing two innings and allowing one hit while striking out two and walking two. Evan Jarrett pitched the next three frames and earned the win, allowing one hit while striking out five and walking one. Phillip Smith threw the final inning, allowing no hits while striking out one and walking one.
Hickman County starter Cameron Peters took the loss, allowing three earned runs on four hits while striking out seven and walking three in three-and-a-third innings. Tully Crites threw two-thirds of an inning, allowing two earned runs on two hits while walking two. Garrett Smith pitched an inning, allowing no runs or hits while striking out three. Will Chilton threw the final frame, allowing three earned runs on three hits and two walks.
