Record Number of Athletes for Bethel University in 2019-20

McKENZIE — The 2019-20 school year for Bethel University will mark a milestone in Bethel Athletics. Over 800 student-athletes will compete this fall and next spring wearing the Wildcat uniform. It will mark a record number of students participating in 28 sports.
The athletes compete at the NAIA Division 1 level in the Southern States Athletic Conference and the Mid-South Conference. With several of those programs and five coed (club) sports competing it adds up to a record number for the school.
The number of athletes at the intercollegiate level alone are more than those competing at the University of Tennessee, University of Memphis, Vanderbilt, UTM and many of the NCAA D1 programs around the nation.
Bethel Director of Athletics Dale Kelley commented, “We are extremely pleased and excited about not only the number of student-athletes who will represent our school but just as excited about the quality of students these young people are. We feel the experience and education they have and will receive is extraordinary. Much of this is due to the hard work of our coaches, recruiters, admissions and many other outstanding departments at our school. Our fans are a huge part of this as well.” Kelley added, “We look forward to another year of competition and all the individual and team success stories the year will bring.”
