Recycling Bin Removed From City Hall

Posted

A recycling bin located behind McKenzie City Hall was recently removed by the Carroll County Recycling Center. The bin was for recycling newspaper but was collecting far more garbage than recyclable materials. Solid Waste Manager Jeff Heyduck indicated that they were getting animal feces, regular trash, clothing, parts of beds, basically everything but what it was supposed to have in it. Signs posted on the bins were repeatedly removed so the Carroll County Solid Waste Committee determined it was time to pull the bins.
The recycling center located on Hwy 77 just outside of Huntingdon accepts paper products such as magazines, junk mail, and card board. They also accept used motor oil as long as it’s clean oil with no other chemicals in it. They also have a scrap metal bin. The center does not purchase scrap metal but will accept scrap metal. They also accept tires but there will be a $3.00 fee per tire. For more information you can call the recycling center at (731) 986-1943.
