Mc Kenzie, TNHUNTINGDON - Mr. Robert “Bob” Green Powell, 66, of Huntingdon, Tennessee died Saturday, February 18, 2023 after a long illness.
Memorial services are 11:30 a.m. Saturday, February 25, 2023 in the Chapel of Dilday-Carter Funeral Home. Dr. Tim Atkins officiating.
The family will receive friends at Dilday-Carter Funeral Home on Saturday, 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
Bob was born July 12, 1956 and was a 1974 graduate of Huntingdon High School. He then earned his Bachelor’s Degree in mathematics from the University of Tennessee and a Master’s Degree in mathematics from Virginia Tech. He taught math at Concord University in West Virginia for a time, then worked as an actuary for Southern Farm Bureau Life Insurance in Jackson, Mississippi. He retired from Southern Farm as a product development manager.
Bob was preceded in death by his father, Robert Powell, Sr., and a special cousin, Suzanne L Shackelford.
He is survived by his mother, Barbara Powell; sister, Angie (Lee) Tipton; brother, Tommy (Janet) Powell; nephews, Matt Tipton, Clay Tipton, Nathan Powell; nieces, Amanda Powell Pruitt and Katie Tipton Parham.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Triple A St Jude Team and can be dropped off at Dilday-Carter Funeral Home or mailed to Dilday-Carter Funeral Home 650 High Street, Huntingdon, Tennessee 38344.
