JACKSON — Robert Mitchell (Mitch) Carter died Tuesday, April 8 at his lake house in Decatur County.
He was born on December 8, 1940, in Rutherford County and was best known as the owner/operator of The Moore Studio in Jackson, Tenn.
Through the years, Mr. Carter photographed thousands of events and individuals, including weddings, seniors, family portraits, and was the official photographer for the Miss Tennessee Pageant for decades.
Those who knew him are left with abundant cherished memories—moments filled with laughter, warmth, and happiness. Mitch was a proud father and grandfather, survived by his beloved son, Robert Carter, Jr.; daughter, Mitzi Michaelson (Rick); brothers, Ken, Don, and Cleve Carter; sister, Ann Miller; and granddaughter, Ellie Michaelson.
Mitch was preceded in death by his brother, Ray Carter, and his parents, Aubrey Carter and Mattie Louise Summers Carter.
The community mourns the loss of such an expansive presence. His life testament to happiness, kindness, and encouragement—will forever resonate in our hearts.
Services were at Arrington Funeral Directors on Sunday, April 13, 2025 with burial in Ridgecrest Cemetery, Jackson.
