Save-A-Lot, United Neighbors Partner for Food Distribution

Posted

McKENZIE — McKenzie Save-A-Lot and McKenzie/Carroll County United Neighbors are partnering this holiday season to help reduce food insecurities in the area.
During the annual event, Save-A-Lot on Highland Drive provides pre-bagged food items to purchase for $4.49 plus tax. The bag contains corn muffin mix, macaroni, stuffing mix, brown rice, potted meat, tuna, and green beans to help prepare a holiday meal. It does not contain the meat necessary for a traditional holiday meal.
Once the item is purchased from Save-A-Lot, the items are transferred to United Neighbors in downtown McKenzie for distribution to area families and individuals.
Saudia Akins, director of United Neighbors, said the need is greater this year. The U.S. Postal Carriers’ annual massive food drive was not held this year. USPS is a great partner in hunger relief, but did not do so this year because of the pandemic.
