Drug Possession — Andrew David Byrd, 29, of 9290 Highway 70, Cedar Grove, was charged with simple possession of schedule VI during a June 18 traffic stop in Trezevant.
Deputy Steven Scott reported that he pulled over a vehicle driven by Byrd for a light law violation, and while speaking with Byrd, Scott detected the odor of marijuana. Byrd told Scott he had smoked marijuana earlier and had some marijuana in the vehicle. While searching the vehicle, Scott found approximately 59.1 grams of a substance believed to be marijuana.
License Violation — Glen Ray Goodrum, 59, of 7435 Buena Vista Road, Buena Vista, was charged with driving on a revoked license (third offense) during a June 18 traffic stop by Deputy Steven Scott on Butler School Road near Bruceton.
Theft — Dennis Taylor told deputies on June 24 that someone took his single blade subsoiler valued at $250 and his high rise jack valued at $70 from his property on Chandler Road near McKenzie some time between June 21 and June 24.
Theft of Firearm — Deputies are looking into the recent theft of a firearm from a residence near Huntingdon.
On July 17, Calvin Jarrett told Deputy Frank McGee that someone entered through the back door of his home on Old Stage Road some time around June 15 and took his 7.62-caliber RPK 47 rifle valued at $1,500. Jarrett also said that a couple of BB guns valued at around $100 were taken.
Vandalism — On July 22, the Sheriff’s Department received a report that someone vandalized the lobby of the Atwood Post Office by pulling pictures off the walls, damaging the walls, and dumping trash all over the lobby.
Theft — Deputies are investigating the recent theft of an ATV from private property on Terry Road near Huntingdon.
Brad Gibson told deputies on July 18 he just returned from being on vacation and found that his 2013 Polaris 850 Sportsman valued at $5,000 was missing from his property. Gibson’s brother, who had been keeping an eye on the property while Gibson was away, said he had last seen the ATV on July 17.
