Multiple Charges — Samantha J. Calkins, 40, of Buchanan was charged with a DUI and drug/narcotic violation on 12/30/22.
Sgt. Davis conducted a traffic stop with suspicion of the driver being under the influence. The vehicle ran off the road and crossed the middle lines multiple times, almost hitting a vehicle head on. The driver, Samantha Calkins, performed poorly on the field sobriety test. Calkins had slurred speech when she spoke. Officers located 6.8 grams of marijuana on Calkins.
Stolen Property — Deputy Meier responded to residence where a trailer had been stolen. Property owner advised the deputy a 2022 Hyundai 48’ silver aluminum semi-flatbed trailer, leased from A and Z Livestock, was taken on 12/29/22 around 6-7:00 p.m. Neighbors heard a semi and did not check because they assumed the property owner was in the shop. Reported missing at this time - ten chain and binder kits, two red cargo tarps, 22 30’ long 4’’ cargo straps, two ladders, and materials used to secure a load.
Drug/Narcotic Violations — Johnathan Lesley Craven, 39, of Camden was charged with Drug/ Narcotic violations and drug equipment violations.
On January 1, a traffic stop was conducted by Officer Townes in reference to a vehicle blocking traffic lanes. After speaking with driver, Jonathan Craven, Townes was given consent to search the vehicle. Townes located a half empty bottle of vodka, a used needle, a half cut straw, and 0.5 grams of a substance that tested positive for meth.
