Silver Threads Quilt Guild Meets

Posted

Silver Threads Quilt Guild’s monthly meeting was opened by President Tammy Host. Tammy welcomed young visitors Wade Chandler, grandson of member Jane Chandler, and Anthony Self, grandson of member Lena Crafton.
Ann Harmon shared a wonderful arrangement of baskets and storage containers that could be used in storing and organizing your quilt room. She also shared care and tips for proper disposal of sewing needles. Members were interested in several of these unique fines.
Patricia Welch and Jayne Heinz demonstrated the “Cake Mix Recipe” book of quilts. The book contains six different layouts for the blocks. The demo included blocks arranged to show the many ways they could be used.

Several members have been working on the “Farm Girl Quilt” pattern. This is a beautiful, fun quilt with many farm-related blocks on it. It was amazing to see the quilts done in so many different fabrics and blocks.
Pam Black held a big class on making rope baskets; the baskets are beautiful. Everyone had a different pattern and fabric. Some of the baskets were made from just colorful rope, others were wrapped in fabrics. The basket’s size was determined by the maker; they came from the very smallest to Some large enough to be waste baskets.
Silver Threads members wish Mary Humphries the very best on her retirement and thank her for her years of support to the club.
Silver Threads Quilt Guild meets on the third Tuesday of the month. Meetings are held in the quilt room at the Carroll County Complex on High Street at 10 a.m. For more information, contact Jean at 731-415-7889 or Tammy at 731-694-0602. Everyone is welcome.
