Steve McCadams Kids Fishing Rodeo Postponed

Posted

To the list of changes and postponements as a result of the pandemic add the annual Steve McCadams “Casting For A Cure” Kids Fishing Rodeo. Initially planned for June 13 at McKenzie City Park Lake, the event fell victim to the current saga that has rearranged pretty much everyone’s lifestyle.
“I hate to postpone the fishing rodeo as it means a lot to the kids and community but at this time I thought it best that we push it back and perhaps things will improve by fall,” said McCadams, host of the event.
“Other events ranging from baseball to soccer have unfortunately had to change their plans this spring and summer too. Although fishing and getting outdoors has been a great outlet for folks to practice social distancing during these last few months holding a crowded event at this time didn’t seem to be in everyone’s best interest.”

“I’m looking at mid- to late-September for a date and will make an announcement later this summer once we finalize plans.”
The event benefits the American Cancer Society each year. “Unfortunately, cancer doesn’t take time off and I hope donors will continue to support the fight against cancer and our fishing rodeo for kids,” continued McCadams.
This year’s event will be the 20th anniversary since the rodeo first began at Carroll Lake. Thousands of youngsters have participated since the rodeo’s conception and thousands of dollars have been raised in the fight against cancer as well.
