HUNTINGDON (January 3) — Three companies provided competitive, sealed bids in hopes of providing emergency dispatch consoles for the Carroll County Sheriff’s Department Emergency Communications Office.
Last year, one of two of the aging dispatch consoles failed, leaving only one fully-operational dispatch position. The second dispatcher worked from a handheld two-way radio until a borrowed replacement part could be installed.
The county will install new equipment with a transfer of $100,000 from the Carroll County Emergency Communications District (911 Board). The remainder of the needed funds will come from the Sheriff’s Department budget.
The following bids were opened: Integrated Communications $141,188.35; B&E Electronics $83,623.18 and an alternate bid of $108,940.07; and Area-Wide Communications $92,292.17.
A committee will review the bids to determine if all bids meet specifications before the actual contract is let to the lowest and best bidder.
